Cybersecurity, Certificate, Forbes

So what is cybersecurity?

We can define cybersecurity as the real-world application of practices, principles, and procedures used to protect an organization's network, systems, and programs from being compromised through digital attacks. In today's hyper-connected world and instantaneous communications through plethora digital devices, the threats to cybersecurity continue to rise, as does the demand for professionals to combat these threats.

Enter the cybersecurity certificate program. The cybersecurity certificate program from accredited institutions is an accelerated, cost and time-effective cirricula designed as an alternative to traditional two and four-year educational programs. These educational programs are developed to equip students with the foundational knowledge, fundamental skills, and practical training that will prepare them to become cybersecurity analysts and engineers in the workplace. Programs are geared towards coverinig topics such as network security and defense, computer forensics, cryptography, and risk mangement.

Over the next 5-10 years cybersecurity is expected to experience double to triple digit growth in areas such as employment, research, and spending. According to Forbes Advisor Online (Mar 2024), the top cybersecurity certificate programs of 2024 are 1) U.C. Berkeley 2) U.C. Irvine 3) Columbia University 4) University of Texas at Austin.
